Only you can unlock the Fastmail app with a glance, touch, or PIN on your phone or tablet.

Email is the gateway to our lives. It holds personal details, the accounts we use, and our whereabouts. So it makes sense that you wouldn’t want others to see your email if you ever pass them your device.

Now you have the option to enable screen lock, which uses your phone’s security settings to hide your email behind biometrics like fingerprint or face recognition, or a PIN code.

You have an extra layer of protection to share your screen, and an easier way to get back in yourself.

Share your device while protecting your email

From time to time, others might use your devices. Your kids may use your tablet for games and learning, or you may hand off your phone to a coworker or friend to flip through pictures or take a look at something.

In case your device is set aside or further passed around while unlocked, screen lock can help.

An enhancement, not a replacement

Screen lock is handy, but it’s not a replacement for your account’s master password.

As always, we recommend that you use a strong password protection for the overall security of your account and turn on two-step verification.

Works with your device settings

If you already use your face or fingerprint to unlock your phone or tablet, you can enable screen lock, and Fastmail will use your existing lock to keep your email safe.

You’ll save time using touch, face identification, or a PIN to identify yourself because these authentication mechanisms let you access your account with minimal effort.

If you have at least one unlock method on your device, you can turn on Fastmail’s screen lock in Fastmail apps under Settings → Device Settings. Otherwise, it will be off by default.

Every day we strive to save you time, eliminate extra hassle, and keep your data private. Enjoy the convenience of screen lock on all your devices!
